Hue tours from Chan May port
My parents and I will be on a cruise in March 2018 and will be docked at Chan May from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We are interested in tours to Hue and/or areas nearby. My Dad fought in the Vietnam War and was stationed near Hue. We are interested in seeing any war sites or other important sites in the area. We are only here for a short time, so we want to see what we can in the time we have. We would like information about reputable tour companies.

For war site, think the Hue Imperial City would be something your dad might remember since it was the battle field during Tet Offensive in 1968. There is Eagle Camp near Phu Bai airport ( if you drive from Chan May to Hue City with a guide or driver, they can point it out for you and your dad. There are a few bunkers left in Hue city and perhaps you and your dad should check out Chin Ham Prison where South Republic of Vietnam captured VCs during 1963 under Diem President.
Which year your dad fought in Hue may I ask?

We recently had a tour of the DMZ north of Hue with a local guide/driver who I would wholeheartedly recommend. I have put his contact into in a post here:

You don't have a lot of time,so the best way for you should book a private tour,Pick up you and drop off you at Chân Mây Port,
Tour called DMZ :Vinh Moc (Vịnh Mốc) is a tunnel complex in Quảng Trị, Vietnam. During the Vietnam War it was strategically located on the border of North Vietnam and South Vietnam. The tunnels were built to shelter people from the intense bombing in Vinh Linh county of Quảng Trị Province in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone.
Khe Sanh Combat Base, a large Marines combat base attacked by a massive forces of the North Vietnamese Army in early 1968.
Hope you enjoy the tour!
