hua hin hotels

We are leaving soon for Hua hin & Cha am. Shall we book the room through the agents on the internet or just approach the hotel for a better discount price ? Thanks in advance.

Up to you, though personaly I hate arriving in a place and carrying baggage around searching for a deal. Weekends ( especially the holiday weekend of 10th to 13th August ) many can be full already. What price did you want to pay and I can suggest some to contact? Let me know and I can tell you a rough price to expect to pay.
Sarah

Hi Ainiita,
If you want 4-star then those that spring to mind would be the Marriot which is $90-120 approx, The Central Village next to Sofitel is 'not' on a very good part of beach, being that the beach is narrow and crowded, however, for around US$70 you get 4-star bungalow accomodation and it is simply glorious, you can wander along the beach to find a quieter spot, this is bang-in-center of town but all these hotels are absolute beachfront, now, how about the 'Sofitel' at about $115, the 'Raffles' of Hua Hin ?? If some classy style more important than beach quality this is without doubt one of Asia's greatest hotels. If you want cheaper the Chom View Apartments, about 5 minutes from town are around $30-$80 for studios.
Best deals for Central Village or Sofitel I found on www.hotelvisit.com (+ www.hotelvisit.com/centralvillage.html ), for Marriot or Chom View www.asiatravel.com

Hope this helps. If wide beach is 'important' then try Marriot or Anantara, is you want a 'memory' then Central Village or the 'Sofitel' ( memory + dreams come true!-Yes, that good!) Doubt you'll get any 'walk in deals' at these hotels, best just to book with Asiatravel or Hotelvisit.
Sarah

Sorry to but-in ladies, can I also mention the Regent Cha Am and the Dusit Resort & Polo Club, don't know the rates now but both are fine hotels and have regular shuttle buses into Hua Hin.

We just booked the Springfield Beach and Golf resort which is a 4 star on the beach between Hua Hin and Cha Am[they have shuttle into Hua Hin].It is in the same area as Regent and Dusit. The rates at thailandrooms.net are $32us for this time of year.
The good thing about prebooking is knowing you have a room when you get there.
We did check with the Thailand tourist board to make sure this company was licensed and they had no complaints with them.
I hope you will post a review of Hua Hin and restaurants when you get back from Thailand for us who are going later in this year.
Have fun!!

I would like to issue a warning to all those seeking information about the Hua Hin area in Thailand.

I have been following threads related to Hua Hin for the past couple of weeks since my wife and I are planning a trip there this autumn.

I have noticed that all Hua Hin threads (as well as some related to Bangkok) are quickly dominated by a single person who is clearly using multiple email addresses. This person is almost surely a commercial representative masquerading as real travellers. He or she most frequently goes by the names Sarah or Sarah Rey, and James Allen or James Allan, although I am suspicious of quite a few other messages posted from other names and addresses in Hua Hin/Bangkok threads as well.

Sarah/James nearly always recommends the two Marriot hotels and the Sofitel in Hua Hin, and the website Asiatravel.com. Seemingly off-the-cuff remarks disparaging other properties are sometimes also included.

I by no means wish to put anyone off going to Hua Hin; in fact, I am still planning my trip there, but I strongly advise others to take most of the comments posted on Hua Hin in recent weeks with a large grain of salt.
You might be right in SOME cases but NOT ALL.With your comments some people who are just offering tips or deals that they have found might not post anymore.
I for one would not just book on someone's recommendation without further research. But with further research on someones posting on the Springfield I did find a good deal and I was thankful to them.
Please don't try to discourage people from adding their messages as I for one would not have found tips and hotel/restaurant recommendations without them.

I too would agree with Val, as it would be a pity to see people reluctant to share their experiences or provide tips. Although there are undoubtedly agents promoting their own tour companies on this forum, I very much doubt that this is the case with major hotels.

The point to bear in mind is that The Marriott Hotel is owned by the Minor Group, whose principal sharholder is an American resident of Thailand, Bill Heinecke, while the Sofitel is owned by Thai investors. So it would be difficult to see any connection in recommendations for the two of these hotels. Moreover, it would be very surprising if the recommendations changed for hotels of a particular class, while the frequency of recommendation would appear to be directly related to the frequency of questions already asked by others.

Well, 'Val' and 'Pas', you're putting up a good fight, but you really aren't smart enough to fool someone with his eyes open.

Caution, gentle readers -- I think this whole thread, and indeed many of the Hua Hin/Thailand threads here -- are manufactured almost from beginning to end!

I'm not trying to discourage **any** legitimate poster from submitting messages to this forum. I just want to see the touts thrown out!

I don't know who you are as you xxx your name and email but you have no right saying that all the people in this thread are lying or getting people to use certain companies.
This person -in this thread is just another traveller with no connection to any business and I do not appreciate someone who does not know me or others calling us liars.
Maybe it is you who should open their eyes and your ears.
Anita ,I am sorry that someone out there is it making it hard for you to get helpful information for your trip.
Good luck finding the hotel.

I love love love the Sofitel Hua hin. Its a beautiful hotel- colonial low rise with extensive gardens and a generous pool area ( 3 pools) rigt on the beach but private too. I always try to go at least once a year just to feel like im stepping back in time... check out the topiary garden and the maze too. Its one of a kind I think! But can be pricey - aske for the rooms in the wing by the sea view. Niki

Eva,
Sorry but we booked two rooms while we are in Thailand and I gave you the wrong website. To find the Springfield you should go to siam-hotel.com
From now to Oct 31st the rates are $32 US including taxes and breakfast.I did check with the Thailand tourist bureau to find out if this company had any complaints and no. After I checked to make sure our reservation was okay at the hotel.

Hi Val,

I think it is best to ignore that type of anonymous posting. As you can see he failed to answer the logical inconsistencies of his argument. While I personally did not recommend the main Sofitel or the Marriott I certainly think they are perfectly valid recommendations for hotels in that class and I defend the right of anybody to recommend them.

Hi, everyone,
I came back from Hua hin and Cha am. Thanks for all the good people replied my questions posted in the forum and I'd like to share my travel experiences.

We stayed in Cha am - Lakeview golf resort for 4 nights. It was a very good hotel for golfers and the family. It was quite relaxing, quite and friendly services. But it took 20 min. to downtown Hua hin.

Then we stayed in Springfield beach resort. The Junior suite is wonderful for us - a small family. Good massage by the beach ( The Second massage plot, keep walking to the right side ).

Tried La mer restaurant, it was much better than Chau Lai seafood restaurant and cheaper.

Thanks again for all the tips and good advise !

Was the price of a Junior Suite at the Springfield Resort very expensive? We have 2 kids and maybe a junior suite would be cheaper at a hotel than 2 rooms? Any other restaurant tips? We plan to go in November. Thanks
