We know the Hyatt Regency Resort in Hua Hin but what about the rooms and facilities of the others?

hyatt is lovely and quite large...i prefer the marriott...it is not as big and the rooms are probably not as nice but everything is closer together so you don't spend 10 minutes getting to pool or beach...or you can drop back to room quickly for a minute...lovely pool, adequate size---beautiful foliage around property...nice beach...near to town

i would not stay at the hilton, period; although some love it...in center of town

sofitel is lovely and convenient...large open pool...beach narrow as i remember...near to town

others will help you more

We spent time at the Hyatt in Hua Hin but did not get to see the others. Before we book I would like some opinions of the others. We shall think about the Marriott as it is closer to town. Is the Sofitel very High Class ? Are guests expected to dress for dinner and such?

what did you think of the Hyatt? We have stayed at the Marriott and agree with the previous comments. I also would not stay at the Hilton. I did not like the pool area layout or the beach in front but did talk to someone who was staying who raved about the rooms. I liked the look of the Sofitel but, like you, am worried that it might be a bit too "snobby".

The Hyatt has good rooms and a lot of open garden areas to the beach, but it seems somewhat too open. The design is very good but it lacks atmosphere if you understand me. I would say they spent a great deal of time making a nice design and not so much time on considoration of guests and how people interact with their surrounds, I think 'spartan' is the word. It does not seem to have a focul point. Very nice but it was a bit far to the town.
I too am very interested in what people can say about the Sofitel. My husband just read that last week there was a Vintage Car display at the Sofitel as that is also of interest.

Firstly, these are all 'good' hotels, and the list could be extended with the Anantara, Evason, Dusit, Regent and more. The choice is not easy because such a good choice.
The Sofitel is the 'Raffles' of Hua Hin, a marvelous place, the Veteran/Vintage Car Display was for a long weekend only. The Sofitel as far as I am aware is not fussy over dress, but all I would say is that if you fancy dressing up then it's probably 'the' place to do it. The gardens, Museum for Afternoon tea, it is a 'classic hotel' on all accounts!
Marriott provides everything you would expect from a Marriott on the Beach. Hyatt I really agree is a great Resort, it's only about 5 minutes from town so I wouldn't call it 'far'.
Evason is different, it's actually at Pranburi which is about 40kms south of Hua Hin, they say it's Hua Hin but it isn't really. Great if you want Pool Villas and plan to stay around the Resort.
If you want a boutique beach resort go for the Kaban Tamor, just past the Hyatt, excellent design and great staff, rooms excellent, I would only give it 3 stars but for atmosphere and friendly staff it is very good indeed.
Between Sofitel and Hilton is Central Village, these are low rise single level bungalows in gardens, you can freely use the facilities of the Sofitel as part of same group.
Hilton I have to say is a skyscraper block, no real beach, but it has apparently the loudest nightclub/bar in town. I hear the rooms are great but I could think of 20 other 2-star places that I would choose first.
All in all I would go for Marriott or Sofitel if you want something of the 'Raffles' type place.

Forgot to mention the Anantara, just north of the centre of Hua Hin. On the beach, famous for Thai style, always good reports.
