How can I call USA from Nepal??

Are there phone cards that we can buy in Nepal that allow calls to the US? How expensive are they? Is there a better way to keep in contact? We don't have a smart phone and are not bringing our computer. This forum has been such a help with other questions. I hope you can answer this one too!

were you able to use skype from your hotel or an internet cafe or did you have your own computer?

Hi there,
Yes, You can use either Skype or google from your hotel in Kahtmandu. These days each of the guest house has wifi and you can ask the password to access internett at your computer and then call all over the world.

Enjoy your trip to Nepal

We will not be bringing our computer to Nepal. Do the hotels have computers that we can use to skype or are there internet cafes that would have skype?

Skype or Google chat will require the party you want to talk to to have their computer on. You can use Skype to make calls to regular phone but better if it's free.

Don't forget to check the time difference! Rhkkmk has Skype me around 3.00AM waking everybody up!

Yes, we can arrange ahead of time to have our kids ready to skype with us. What I'm concerned about is if the computers over there in the hotel or in internet cafes are set up for skype. Are there even any internet cafes over there?

I'm guessing, since nobody has mentioned them, that there are no phone cards that you can buy in kiosks as there are in many other ccountries. Right?
