By far the cheapest (and perfectly easy) way to see the Warriors is to take a bus straight there from near Xi'an's railway station. This gives you as long at the site as you like, and you can go at your own pace rather than that of a tour group, which may be more geared to taking you elsewhere to shop.
As for hotels, a lot depends on your definition of 'nice', which does vary wildly from person to person. There's a very large ranged of choice at all price levels in Xi'an. Perhaps if you look through a guide book to come up with a short list, recommendations can then be made.

Bus 306 was the perfect choice for us, cheap and comfortable. On the way back we stopped at the beautiful Huaquing Hot Springs before boarding again the 306 to Xian.
As we are a family of 4 it almost impossible to find a quad room in hotels in China so we looked for an apartment.
I would suggest Hq Guesthouse
http://xianapartmentshq.com/
It has 2 bedrooms and a perfect central location, within walking distance to the muslim quarter, the mosque, the bell and drum Towers. Price is RMB 500/night you can pay cash directly there, no pre-payment required. They trust you will come. 1 bedroom RMB 350
There is no tv but a free computer station in the living room.
If we went again to Xian we would definitely stay there again.
