Hotels in Hanoi near Old Quarter

Thinking of staying in either the Silk Path Hotel, Hanoi Hilton, or the Hanoi Horizon Hotel.
Any suggestions would be very appreciative. Thank you.

I stayed at Maison d'Hanoi, a stylish, small boutique hotel in the old quarter. I thought it was lovely for the price.

better rates might be available on vietnamstay.com

I too like the smaller hotels - a much more personal and welcome feel. Cabs are a real problem in Hanoi - you want to be in the Old Quarter or Cathedral District (Horizon Hotel is in a rather inconvenient area).

We loved the Elegance chain. The Elegance 3 is nicer than #4 with larger rooms. The staff is amazing. I hear the Elegance #5 is the best, well situated on the lake and brand new.
