Hotels in Agra

We're going to be visiting Agra for 2 nights in mid December and are having a very hard time finding a hotel. We don't want a deluxe hotel (with prices over $150/night), but would like a smaller, less expensive hotel/inn. We would be willing to stay a little outside of Agra if we were recommended a nice hotel. Any suggestions??

I can only think of the Mughal Sheraton and I assume that is not fitting in your budget as Dec is peak season...can I suggest you go to www.indiamike.com and scroll through some entires or post? That is an India specific forum. I checked www.bootsnall.com.au but no luck with Agra...

I just returned from a 5 week trip to India, and stayed a couple of nights in Agra. We stayed at Hotel Deerar-E-Taj. It was fine, nothing fancy, but clean and the staff was very nice. It actually had a shower with hot water. I believe it was about $27 USD for a double and it included breakfast.
