Hong Kong Restaurants

Returning to HK for third time in two years. Leave next week. Please save me the time of going through the forum looking for places to eat. If you remember from my trip postings in March 2008, we enjoy eating where the locals eat. Staying at the Langham Hotel, Peking Road near the Star Ferry on Kowloon but we travel well. Please help keep us fed.

The search function comes in handy.

Great recommendations here.

I have actually updated and consolidated the list or restaurant recommendations mentioned in the link above, and is it now a 40-page list, which I am loathe to post here as I do not like the new format and the list is way too long anyway. I would be happy to e-mail it to you if you want to send me a message at [email protected]. It is broken down by view, no view, area, price and food type/region.

I am leaving on vacation myself from tomorrow for a few weeks, so if you don’t send me a message by the end of your day today, I won’t be able to respond until March 24.

Thanks AsiaExpert. These seem to be the type places we look for when we travel. Local hotels always try to point us to the tourist places. If I want to eat with me I can stay home if you know what I mean.

Just back from a short trip with friends. Had lots of great food. My recommendations.

Sang Kee Seafood Restaurant - unpretentious Cantonese food at reasonable prices. Must make reservations for dinner, ask them to keep some lai mang congee (catfish) for you.

A Hong Kong acquaintance brought us to Lin Heung Tea House in Central. Excellent dinner. The place was packed to the rafters for dinner!

I am not surprised Lin Heung will be packed for lunch. But dinner? I have trouble imagining it...
