Hong Kong: layover for 2-3 days, what to do with the checked luggage?
I will fly to Hong Kong and will stay there for 2-3 days (not decided yet), then continue my trip. The airlines to and departing HKG are in the same alliance. While I am in HKG, will or should I take the checked luggage with me? or the next airline will keep it until departure? I would rather the airline keeps it, is it possible?

If you don’t need the bags at all for your stay in Hong Kong, then you can just store the bags at the airport and collect them when you go to check-in for your flight. This will save your having to lug them into town. You can store your luggage for about US$8 per day, go to http://www.hongkongairport.com/eng/p...t-baggage.html
for info. The main Left Luggage area is in the "Meeters and Greeters Hall", which is the huge main arrivals hall in Terminal 1 (where all flights arrive), the Left Luggage area is on the far right of the hall as you exit the second set of glass doors from the baggage claim/Customs areas.
There are storage lockers in Terminal 2 which are cheaper, but you will have to walk over to the terminal with your bags from Terminal 1. (No flights arrive into Terminal 2, although several airlines have check-in facilities there; passengers then go to Terminal 1 for their gates.) If your departing airline does not use Terminal 2 for check-in, then when you return to the airport, you will have to collect your bags first at Terminal 2 and then walk back over to Terminal 1 to check-in. It is not a far walk and is entirely indoors. You can use a luggage cart for the trips.
