Hiroshima Hotel
I need some help selecting a hotel in Hiroshima. Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, age 8 & 10 yr) will be in Hiroshima April 8-10th. We will be visiting the Peace Memorial, Hiroshima Castle and catching a baseball game. I can not decide between ANA Hotel and Rhiga Royal Hotel. Rhiga had mixed reviews but I can not find too much reviews on ANA Hotel. Please help?

The Rihga Royal Hotel is perfect for your visit. I've stayed there twice and I like it. I don't know about the ANA hotel.
The front of the hotel faces the park area where Hiroshima castle is located, so you will likely have a view of the castle from your room.
The Hiroshima Carp baseball stadium is practically next door to the hotel. Rooms on that side of the hotel can look down into the stadium. If you walk quickly you could get from hotel to ballpark in two minutes. Go around the stadium and cross the street and you are at the edge of the Peace Park, and seconds from walking to the Genbaku Dome.
What were the negative comments on the Rihga Royal like?

Found a better map at jnto.go.jp and see that ANA Hotel is a bit further south than I thought, but still a pretty good location. I'd be happy with the ANA, I'm sure, but I'd go to the RR.
There is a restaurant/night club at the top of the RR that is ridiculously expensive and the restaurants are expensive. But, last time I got an internet-only rate of only 16000 for a twin room with with a very nice breakfast buffet for two included.

We stayed at the ANA hotel a few years ago when my parents visited Japan. It was not cheap, but the rooms were tiny and worn, with dirty carpets and cigarette burns (even though they were "non-smoking"
. Their breakfast buffet was no better than a business hotel. We hated the place...can you tell?
Go to the Rhiga...it's where we decided we'd stay should we ever need a hotel in Hiroshima again after we looked at it. Unless the ANA has done a complete overhaul on the place, it is not worth what they charge. Of course, if you can get rooms there for around 8000 yen for a twin, it might be worth that...any more than that I would pass.

I stayed at the ANA s few years ago and, while I didn't hate it as much the previous poster, I was certainly disappointed. My room was small and dark and more like I'd expect from a business hotel. The location is ok, though: walking distance to the castle and the bomb museum, and there's a tram that goes past the door on the way to the train station.
