Help with Japanese Rail question please
Hi
I need to get from Kyoto to the Ramada Kansai Airport Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Osaka) using my JR Rail Pass. Can you tell me if this is possible. I know that the hotel does a free shuttle from the airport as a last resort.
Many thanks
Son

Hi Sonia,
I made a quick research. You will take shinkansen or other JR line from Kyoto to Osaka. From Osaka the following 1 or 2 would be possible.
1. Take Nankai Line at Nanba-Osaka Station and get off at Izumi-Sano from where Hotel Ramada Kansai Kuko will be 1 minute by taxi and 4 minutes on foot (according to the hotel site). Unfortunately this Nankai Line is a private line so most probably you can not use your JR Pass.
2. At Ten-Noji Station (Osaka), take JR Kansai Airport Line (for 33 minutes) or JR Hanwa Line (56 minutes) and get off at Hineno Station. Both trains stop there. These are JR lines so your railpass covers them but the hotel is 10 minute away by taxi according to the hotel site.
And I recommend you to send an e-mail to Ramada to double check if above are correct. As I said,I searched quickly. There may be some (minor, I hope) inaccurateness in above.

There is a train called Haruka from Kyoto to Kansai Airport, according to the JR site. Stops at Shin-Osaka, Nishi-Kujo, and Tennoji. Departures every 30 minutes.
Info and schedule here:

Hike, if you're going to flame someone, then have the decency to actually read the first post before making a response. The question was how to get there using the rail pass (to save money obviously), with the obvious benefit of saving time and convenience. If there's a free shuttle from the airport, and the rail pass gets you a reserved ticket on a express train that goes directly there, then why wouldn't it be a possible choice? What irony with your post, you are the one who hasn't answered anything.
