My husband and I will be traveling to Japan in Oct 2005 and have 4-5 days. What sites should we be sure to see. Both in Tokyo and surrounding areas. What about public transportation and hotels. We don't speak Japanese, will we have trouble getting around? Thanks for any and all input.

I planned the recent Tokyo portion of my trip from prior posts on this board, which I then resaerched further on the internet. Tokyo is a big city w/many different types of offerings and you have asked some big questions. Perhaps it would help you if you would familarize yourself a bit w/what Tokyo has to offer (there is lots of info is you search this board) and see what kind of things appeal to you, then come back and ask w/an idea of what kinds of things you might like and more specific questions. The questions you raise regarding being able to get around without Japanese language, public transportation, hotels, are all covered very well (and recently) on here, so searching for those prior posts first will help you get some ideas before coming back w/more specific questions.

What are you interested in?
You should have no problem getting around even if you don't speak Japanese. But make sure you have a good subway and street map and make sure it's current since they have added routes. And make sure the map has spots in both english and japanese so if all else fails you can point and someone can point you in the right direction.
