What month are you going? What is your budget? What are your interests? The obvious suggestion is do the Golden Triangle i.e. fly Bangalore-Delhi, trainDelhi-Agra, overnight to see the Taj twice and other Agra highlights, drive Agra to Jaipur, 2-3 nights, drive back to Delhi - couple nights. Not suitable for summer though. If wildlife is of interest you could add 1/2 nights in Ranthambore to this itinerary.

If you give me some more guidance on your budget and interests, I'm happy to suggest some ideas.
A few places to consider:
1. Hampi
2. Tamil Nadu - temple towns, beach resorts, Pondicherry for a bit of French-colonial flavor
3. Kerala
Rajasthan is fantastic, but will be very hot now.

Thanks, and sorry for lack of info...
I will be in Bangalore in late April, then again in June - I know the timing in not ideal, but must see as much as possible while in county. I've heard much of Golden Triangle, can I accomplish that w/in a week?

Fly to Kerala and stay Cochin/backwaters for a few days; then to Agra for Taj and up to Delhi by train. Agra will be hot but not unbearable and if Taj is on your personal list (and why wouldn't it be? it is definitely a "must see" then you should go there.
Rajasthan is great but it isn't the be all and end all of India - and season is wrong so go somewhere where you will enjoy.
You could, of course, also go to Madurai in Tamil Nadu and there's a game park close-ish (Periyar??) - or fly up to Darjeeling or Shimla.
Or even go for broke and visit Varanasi.
India has so many possibilities!!
It might help to take a quick dip into a guidebook.
All the best.
