Harbour light show

Regarding the harbour light show..is the show from both Hong Kong and Kowloon side and can it be viewed from either side of land or is it best to be on a boat in the harbour?

You can see it from a boat in the Harbor, but I think the best view is from the Promenade in Kowloon.

Yes, the promenade -- or "Avenue of the Stars" -- that stretches in front of the Intercontinental Hotel, Art Museum, Cultural Center, etc. on the Kowloon side affords a great view of the laser show. The most spectacular effects are seen on the buildings on the Honk Kong Island side of the harbor.

Also, get there a bit early and get a good "leaning position" on the railing. The music is a big part of it which you wouldn't hear from HK side and maybe not on boats.

It is nice thing to see, but becomes boring after a couple of minutes.

I was a bit underwhelmed but the skyline at night is great. Bring a tripod for your camera for better pictures.

Just viewing the skyline from the Promenade in Kowloon is great if you don't get there in time to see the light show. The view is the best I have ever seen. There is also a coffee shop just at the entrance to the shopping area that has free e-mail and never seems to crowded. If it is you can read numerous newspapers and magazines while waiting for a computer. Be sure to punch the 15 minute timer by the timer you are waiting for.

We watched it from our window table at Aqua Roma Restaurant on the Kowloon side......One Peking Rd on the 29th floor. Could not hear the music, but the chic atmosphere and the yummy hors d'hoeuvres and cocktails more than compensated for that!
