I can't help with weather, but the Sunday issue of the NY Times travel this week had a feature on Guilin.

Note that they quote a rate of 500RMB for the Li River cruise. With some bargaining we paid 350RMB.

Thanks Marijia.

We're only there Saturday and Sunday (we arrive from HK Friday night, depart Sunday at 8pm). Do you suggest we do the river cruise and the minority show on Saturday, or can we do the cruise on the Sunday? Im just worried that we'll be late for our flight back on Sunday if we do the cruise that day!

I would try to do the cruise on Saturday. We returned somewhere around 5-6 from our cruise and that included an hour in Yangshou. I would have liked to stay in Yangshou longer. (It took us a long time to get off the boat since there were very many tour boats on the river. In March you probably won't have that problem.) If the weather is bad on Saturday you'll still have the chance to do the cruise on Sunday. If you have to do the cruise on Sunday, I would take a cab from Yangshou to the airport, instead of going by bus to Guilin and then to the airport. The road from the airport to Guilin is a new toll road which was almost empty when we were there last September. That was quite a change from other roads we were on. I think it's about 45 min to town. It was surprisingly easy to get a cab at the airport and the metered fare was 80 RMB. Have a great time in Guilin!

Marijia,

Would you suggest doing the cruise and the night show in the same day? Since the show is in Yangshao, I thought we might as well do it the day we do the cruise!

It's over an hour by nonstop bus from Guilin to Yangshao so going back and forth take time. I don't know the details of the time of the show since we didn't see it. Have a great weekend!
