Thank you so much for posting. I never met Carol but boy did I love posting to her threads when she was in her beloved Bangkok, up until the last one. I found such fun in reading her musings as she went about life in her favorite city. She was such an authentic writer and truly gave us a unique insight and perspective into Bangkok and her other favorite vacation spots in Thailand. I hope someone will go and toast her at the Pickeled Liver! My deepest condolences to her immediate family and her Thai friends and extended family.

I am so sorry to read this. Carol was always so helpful on these boards sharing her passion for BKK so freely. We met her on our first trip to BKK and she seemed to enjoy showing us the ropes. She certainly taught us quite a lot in one afternoon. My condolences to her family. She will be missed on Fodors.

I am just seeing this and want to say how sorry I am to hear this. I am glad I got to see Carol this fall. She was always so enthusiastic and was a great traveler. I will miss her and reading her Thailand trip reports. My sincere condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to hear this. Carol spoke about her travel even when she was very ill and wasn't going to let her illness or treatments get in the way of getting up and going. I was amazed to hear of the trips she took up until the very end, and I had hoped that meant that her illness was not progressing. I guess what it really meant was that she was determined to keep living as long as she was alive and to make the most of her days. I admire that spirit.

Thank you all.
Here is her obit.: http://obituaries.galesburg.com/obit...&pid=184161443
There will be a celebration of life on March 12. And there will be a private room reserved the night before at her favorite local restaurant. Attending Fodorites are welcome to join us for dinner.

I am so very sorry to learn of Carol's passing. What a lady, and what magnificent energy she had! I told her she always brought something special and unique to each of the Fodor's Boston GTGs we'd meet up at, and I'm glad I did, especially in light of how things turned out.
Brad, you and your family have my deepest sympathy. She spoke of you often, and I'm sure you know how very much Carol treasured her family.
RIP, Carol. I hope you've discovered that heaven looks a lot like Bangkok and Zurich and Galesburg and even a little bit like Boston sometimes.

Carol was such an upbeat person and a joy to be around. It looked like the number 10 when we stood talking to each other, and we had nothing but fun yakking about where we’d been and were off to next.

oh no!!!!! I am so saddened by Carol's passing! I was just perusing the forums which I havent done for ages and wanted to see if Carol had any Bkk posts, like she always has had up. What a shock....I had the opportunity to meet her at a Haagen Dazs in Central Plaza (?) back in 2006 or so but we never were able to coordinate I regret missing her that trip. Will miss you, Carol!!
