Goa- What is the best beach?
Hi,
what is the best beach in Goa. Are the beaches real clean and is the water blue or the brownish color like on the west coast?
Are some of the beach areas better for restaurants and entertainment?
Thanks all.

What do you mean by "best beach"?
For me, a Goan born & bred, the "best beaches" of Goa are long gone. Tourism has ruined everything. More tourists=more damage to the environment, and with the lax rules and zero regulations that prevail in India, it all translates to a quick degradation of the best places. I don't mean to discourage you. But pare down your expectations. Goa is among the cleanest places in India (and was much, much better some 10 years ago). Goan food, especially fish, remains the finest in the world. And that is not an opinion.
The water is green and blue.

The problem in Goa is the best beaches are in the south of the island far from the night life and markets. So, this really means choosing between a clean beach like the ones the Taj Exotica and Leela are on or a north Goa property near everything else but with an average beach. From Goa to the Maldives you can either go back to Mumbai or go to Kerala then take a flight.

Hi...can someone please help here....I have 5 nights leaving from Mumbai before I need to be back in Delhi this December. I want some fun, some chill time but some real special India beaches? I can fly roundtrip and I am single and mid 30's. Thanks.

Agree with hobbes. The best beaches aren't close to any good restaurants or night life. The southern beaches are the best in terms of beauty and cleanliness but the north is where you'll find the best nightlife and excellent restaurants. Its a tradeoff.
The water is blue/green, the sand is white (at least in the South)
