I am travelling with a very picky eater, my 3 year old son and I am looking for a kitchenett in a 5 star hotel/resort in Goa. I want to be there for 4 days and I will be very relaxed if I know I have a kitchenette in the room. I o do not want a apartment hotel, but want the resort luxuries. I hope someone has some feedback.

Actually, I suspect that you're a lot more likely to find a kitchenette of some kind in down-market places so backpackers staying long-term can fix their own food. The resorts want you to eat in their restaurants. Two main kinds of tourists in Goa - backpackers and package tourists.

Park Hyatt Goa has kitchenettes in their executive suites, but if I understand correctly about your son, needing to have edible food easily available for him, you may require only a microwave and small refrigerator, not a full kitchenette. That may be available in regular (not suite) hotel rooms at the larger chains like Marriott, as well as the Park Hyatt.

Another idea (which you may have already thought of) is to just ask the hotel to empty their mini bar refrigerator in your room, prior to your arrival. Then you can replace what your son likes, with what the hotel wants to empt you into buying. I expect the luxury hotels all have small minibar refriigerators in even the "basic" rooms

There actually aren’t that many 5 star hotels in Goa, and I agree that for kitchenettes you might do better with apartment properties, have you tried something like vrbo.com and also <i>Special Places to Stay India</i> http://sawdays.co.uk/, click on the book for India?

But for 5 star hotels, you should just contact the following hotels and ask specifically what they have, and then determine whether that would meet your requirements: Leela Kempinski, Park Hyatt, Taj Exotica, Goa Marriott. There is a Grand Hyatt which is opening shortly, not sure when your trip is, but you might contact them and see if they will be open during your trip and whether they have rooms with kitchen facilities. There is also the Nilaya Hermitage, but I am fairly sure they don’t have any rooms with kitchens, and I am not sure that the hotel is really someplace for a 3-year old.

I think you might also have an issue with finding foods. While fruit and vegetables are fine from the market, you don’t, IMO, want to buy meat in a local market. The quality will be very variable. You won’t really find Western convenience foods. Finding baked goods (other than white bread) and cheeses can also be a problem, not to mention expensive, as that is not typical in Goan or Indian cuisine (nor are things like packet noodles like you can find it other Asian countries). You also won’t find many supermarkets in Goa, esp if your hotel is more isolated (as some of the 5 stars can be). Panjim has one or two, but this could be a drive from your hotel. The nearest shops to your hotel may have quite a limited selection (at least in terms of US foods for a picky child. English-style digestive biscuits and Horlicks hot chocolate you probably can find). So room service and an accommodating restaurant staff may be your better option. Also, bring items from home if there is something your son really likes to have (but fresh or frozen meat, fruit and veg usually can’t be brought into any country, just dried foods).
