go karting and baseball game in tokyo in may

Taking daughter to Japan for 3 weeks in May as graduation gift. Just us (I am 59). Looking at g-karting one night and a baseball game too. It appears Rappongi art festival may be May 18, the day we arrive. We may try to go our first night (or not and sleep!)
Has anyone my age done go karting? A bit nervous. Also am on Giants website but cant seem to see if they are playing a game at home either Sunday May 19 or Monday May 20. Can anyone help me here?
Thanks all.

May 19 the Giants are playing in Hiroshima
You can see a game in Yokohama or Chiba on the 19th
there are no games scheduled for May 20

NPB 2024 Fixtures - Baseball/Japan (flashscore.com)

At that website and elsewhere, the home team is listed above or to the left of the visiting team (the opposite of US and elsewhere). So you will see the game listed vertically as:
Hiroshima Carp
Yomiuri Giants
or horizontally as:
Hiroshima Carp - Yomiuri Giants

That is the standard way they are listed, but you never know for sure - maybe a website will flip them to be listed like in the US. So you need to always look at the venue, to make sure and in this case it says:
VENUE:MAZDA Zoom-Zoom Stadium (Hiroshima)

Other websites might just say the stadium name without showing the city.so you might have to do a search on the stadium name (or get a list of stadiums and city)

Baseball in Japan (japan-guide.com)

Also, home teams don't always play in their home stadium. I once saw a game that would have benn listed as:
Fukuoka S Hawks
Nippon Ham Fighters

So, you can tell that it was a Fukuoka Softbank Hawks home game. You know that the Fighters stadium is in Sapporo but the game is not there because it is a Fighters away game.

If you always check the venue for the game, as I suggested above, then you would have found that the game was in Tokyo Dome (not in Fukuoka!)

That means that if you want to find a game in Tokyo on the 19th then you would need to check all of the matchups and check on the venues.

Also, an NPB game can be held in a stadium that is not the home to an NPB team (IIRC I saw a game in a small ballpark in Kanazawa).

The Giants are in Hiroshima also on the May 18th
The Yokohama and Chiba games on the 19th are the only games in Tokyo that day.

On the 21st the Giants are at home at Tokyo Dome

Japan Sports ticket | Baseball, Soccer, Sumo, Volleyball, Basketball etc

Thanks for this. Disappointed we won't be able to see a game in Tokyo while we are there.

Yokohama isn't that far if you really want to see a game and don't have an opportunity to see one later on in your trip. I was at Nagoya Station late afternoon when I decided to attend that game at Tokyo Dome. My seatmate on the shinkansen to Tokyo escorted me to the entrance for the subway/train that would get me to Tokyo Dome. Returned to Nagoya after the game.

You are going to Japan for three weeks and only staying in Tokyo for 3 nights after your arrival? If you want to see a baseball game in Yokohama, its about a 20 minute train ride from Tokyo station by Shinkansen.

That is a good thought, but the shinkansen would be expensive and not save time

17 min and 3010 yen for Tokyo Station to Shin Yokohama Station on Nozomi shinkansen and then 25 min and 280 yen from Shin Yokohama to the stadium on subway
That is 42 min and 3290 yen

Tokyo Station to the stadium would be 45 min and 700 yen using a JR regular train to Yokohama Station and then subway. The trip could take 10 minutes or so longer, depending on which train you chose depending on the time of departure (am looking at 16:00 de[parture).

Staying In Shinjuku? That would be 47 min for 660 yen. That uses a JR special rap9d train from JR Shinjuku Station to Yokohama Station (only 29 min) and then subway.

In any case, figure the Tokyo to stadium trip is in the ballpark of 1 hour.to 1 hr 15 min . By "Tokyo" I mean the city in general (not just Tokyo Station). The cost should be about $6 pp.

I just saw this. It;s ok - no regrets - in skipping the Yokohama game. It is possible (as was pointed out) but not particularly desirable.
