Getting married at Patong Beach

Hi
We wanted to know if any Australians have previously arranged to get married at Patong Beach to get married.
As this is the second time around for both of us and we thought maybe someone else may have done this previous to us. We are having a family holiday in May and thought that maybe we could kill 2 birds with one stone... to say the least.
Many thanks for you help.

Yes it can be done. You need a company to sort it all for you.
Is it worth the paperwork etc ? My humble opinion is 'no'.

It is gong to invlove at least a trip to Bangkok to the Australian Embassy where certain p/work needs to be done! You would need certain p/work with you in order to process that.

Plus various other paperwork which to me just eats away at holiday time in and 'takes over' from what should be a happy, relaxed and stress free experience.

What I would do is : Do the official p/work side marriage at home. It is after-all just p/work. That means all your legal side is clear and simple in Australia.

Now, what you can do which is romantic and memorable is to do 'vows' and celebration your own way. You 'can' get companies to do this, depends how organised you want it. Business is business, no they are charging for 'sorting things'.
They can arrange a Temple blessing, 'wedding lunch', reading of vows, flowers, photographer etc etc, but that gives you a wedding atmospere without paper-work.

You 'can' also just do your own thing. How bug is the 'family holiday'? What could be better than reading your vows to family and friends!
Spend the money on fun and making memories. Temple blessings can easily be arranged where you can take offerings ( practical and sensible things which temples distribute to needy or use themselves ).
You can arrange a great dinner party or some amazing 'treat' for the whole family.

I would 'spend the money' on making a memorable experience and not running around getting paperwork sorted. Bottom line there is no benefit unless it would be a deep meaning.

Have you been to Patong before ? There are other beaches with resorts with perhaps more romantic setting and opportunities. May is start of low season so rates would be low. Perhaps Katathani or similar.
Depends how many people in family, whether big or small group etc.

Have a think and them ask on from that.

PS: Don't forget to buy any Champagne tax-free on your way!

Thanks for the reply in March.
Yes we agree with you. After looking into it we have decided to just have a fabulous holiday in Thailand without worrying about getting married.
We will do that some time next year in Brisbane so we can have another party with interstate friends and family.
PS. The champagne is chilling!

If you go to the deli shop on Rat-U-Thit Road they have a reasonable supply of wines, expect to pay about AUD 26 for a reasonable bottle of Jacob's Creek, Champagne would be in the AUD 160+ range !
Tou can buy 2.5 ltr Italian wine for about AUD 16, they also do breads and snacks, better choice than 7-11.
Pop-in the Swiss Palm Beach nearby for a look-see in case you go back to Patong, worth noting for family holidays as have 2 bedroom duplex apartments which are good value, see what you think as a lower cost place if you decide to go back.
Walk back from car-park to some local eateries and bars, 7-11 on main street. Rough prices ( as prices going up ) Can of Coke about AUD 50c, 1 ltr Orange Juice about AUD 2.80/3, bottled water around 30c. Stock your own mini-bar.

If you haven't done flights yet Singapore have very good thru connections onto Silk Air which makes a very fast and easy BNE-Phuket routing, bags and b/passes all the way thru.
