General Tours Reccomendation?

My family of five (2 adults, 3 kids ages 14/17/19) are thinking about taking a private tour of India this summer using General Tours of New Hampshire. Has anyone used this company or can they reccomend aanother one for a 8-10 day trip.

Hope this info helps u...found this info on another site like this one...someone used "Le Passage to India (www.lepassagetoindia.com)" & were happy with them...also someone else used "Greaves Travel-Chicago office" for their travel & were very happy...also found this web site..."www.himalayantours.com"...I liked their prices. Not sure where/how I found this site. Also a very nice lady says this in her answer on a similar site..."General tours is more known for its group tours."
Want to mention this...summer is very HOT in India & so not sure u want to be visiting during the monsoon/summer season. If the tour co. mentions a/c (air-conditioning) for the hotels & bus, u should be able to manage. We always carried water with us & wore loose clothing & comfortable shoes. Make sure your teens cover themselves cause the sun blocks didn't work for us. We did end up buying a local one which got rid of some of the redness. So no strappy clothing. Good luck with ur travel.

We were in Japan with General Tours, in april 2005. We select them because, from their website, we liked the itinerary, the hotels, free time in each town. However, we were very worry and we were not sure we shall have a great trip with them, because they answer very late or very incomplete to all our questions.
Also, I had a very bad impression about them, when they offered me a room for two pre-tour nights in Tokyo at a price almost double than I found in internet.

However, we took the trip with them, and we were very HAPPY! We had very good guides (Japanese), good and very central hotels, good bus and the trip was very well organized. Everything was good, and we enjoyed. I hope that you too, will have a great time with them

Hello TheresaMarie, My wife and I have been on three personally guided independent tours with G.T. Russia, China , Prague and Hungary, In March '06. we will travel with them to India. They have been terrific and we highly recommend their services. We will gladly answer any questions.Quite frankly we don't understand why anyone would respond to your post when clearly they have not been on a G.T. tour. G.T. is not specifically a group tour company.Their guides are excellant, and you will truly enjoy the personal service.

Why don't you check out OAT? They are doing 20-25 trips a month to India and everyone (including myself) has been very satisfied. The groups are limited to 16, so you get a lot of personalized service.

Greetings/namaste from Bonita, American woman living in India! (the nice lady, ha ha!) Thanx for that! YES, glad to hear of your family trip to India, but as you must ALREADY know the summer is not the best time for India travel! That said, it can still be done if you do not mind the heat and the rain, and plan SIGHTSEEING and travel wisely! Also, the good point is that prices go way down in the summer, so you stay in many of the wonderful properties for much less and there is much less tourists all around!!! About General tours, they are fine, but not a local company, rather they will go thru an Indian company/operator called Creative Travel. I am familiar with most of the big Operators in India, as i have been in/out of India for the past 15 years and leading/managing American cultural tour programs for almost a decade! I always wld say for the best prices and most experince handling India, definately best to go directly thru a reputable local operator. In terms of OPERATORS, there are many but my favoirte is LE PASSAGE TO india as most of the American tour programs i now lead(Gate1, Aims, Orient Flexipax, smartours!) are handled by them and I have known and trusted these folks for year. Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] Happy to help with reccos, contacts, suggestions, etc!. bonita.
