General question

Hey peeps,

I just typed out a lengthy start to my Myanmar report, only to have hotel wifi go down after hitting "submit". Now I can't find it.

Is there anyone smarter than me (yeah okay, all of you) that might know how to recover it ? Using IPad 2 if that helps.

Thanks

You could try clicking on the history ( top right) and go back to the page but sadly I think it has gone for good! For longer posts I tend to type in Pages or Notes and then cut and paste into the web page. Not much help after the event though.

One of the things I learned - the hard way - is to type my reports in Word, then cut and paste into Fodors.

Oh no -- awful. I don't know of any way to recover data from an iPad without a file recovery app/program. Hopefully someone does know a way to do that.

Thanks for your replies. I tried the history suggestion Crellston, found the page, it was blank, doh !

And yes I should have learned by now to use notes (also took the hard way Kathie).

Unfortunately I'm a bit of a Luddite with my technology, so cut and paste can be hit and miss.

I vow to ask a twelve year old how to use this iPad when I get home.

Will also save the trip report until then, when Dell laptop and word will be available.

At least I have plenty of dialogue from emails home to spouse and others, and photos will jog the fading memory !

Thanks again.

Hi guys

I posted a reply earlier, and figure this further reply will also sit in a queue somewhere. It's very weird, the left hand columns says 4 responses yet when I click on the link there are only 3. I'm assuming the missing reply is mine. Same goes for a response I promised cwn about the boats on Inle Lake.

Crellston, you'll be pleased to know I've figured out the cut and paste thing, so did that with my reply to cwn. Don't have to bother the 12 yo now!

Off to ask reception who owns this hotel.....

Here's my best guess on what this is, though I'm not a techie, so I may be completely offbase - but it just sounds like the page needs to refresh--

If you're clicking on an already-opened page by clicking on an existing tab on the top of the ipad, you're looking at the last activity on that page. If this is the case, close the tab and reopen the board so that it can refresh. Or, on that page, click on the upper left where it says "Asia Board", which will also let the board refresh.

I'm not sure if this is right or the best way to do things, but it seems to work for me.

Thanks Progol, I had tried what you suggested, many times earlier on. I'm not quite that much of a Luddite
Could be wrong, but this hotel is the only place that I've encountered this. The owners are Swiss and Burmese, not game enough to ask any more.

Now, off to the queue for a few hours !
