Funny Video of Traffic in India
I have tried so many times to explain the traffic in India to friends, but it verbal descriptions always fall short.
This video was posted on "YouTube" and it is hilarious. It isn't in any way trying to be hilarious, it just is.
For those of you who haven't been there, watch how nonchalantly Indians walk across the street in all of this chaos. Half way through the video, watch for the white car, top right, driving against traffic. Now think of two American women cowering one side of the street trying to figure out how to get to the other side (don't worry, after a few days you are as nonchalant as the rest of them. Tip: just always walk right next to an old Indian--they have obviously figured it out ;-)
Enjoy!

I just noticed there are five more India traffic videos on the right hand side of this page. This one is a death defying look from the front seat of an auto-rickshaw. It is exactly like you are sitting next to the driver!

Look for all the additional videos on the right hand side of this page--especially the one titled "Chicken crossing the road" which shows what it is like to "get to the other side" as a pedestrian in India.

It is pretty amazing to think about the person standing in the middle of the street taking the "chicken" video. However, I've been to both Nairobi and Hanoi (mentioned by other posters) and I'd suggest that Cairo is far worse.

Enjoyed the view from the front seat of the auto-rickshaw. The traffic is as I remember it with one exception: PLAYING CHICKEN WITH LARGE ON-COMING TRUCKS! Now that is really terrifying - our driver always managed to get out of the way of danger in time though.
