Sorry I just saw this post, that is so kind of you, but I will be in the US from the 15th until Jan 5 for Christmas vacation and then go from there to Delhi for a week for work. I hope you enjoy your time in Hong Kong. We have been having some strange weather this fall, hopefully things will get better and the sunnier/drier weaather which is typical will be here for your visit.

I won't be in the NYC area until the 23rd as I will be in DC before that, this is too funny...but I am sure I will be in the NYC area at some point as most of my family is in that area, so let's hope we can meet up sometime!!

Like ships that pass in the night.
Have a good visit to the US. The weather has been unusually warm but that will change. We are here in NYC except for our Christmas holiday trip so we will be here next time you come to NYC.
Last question...hand made pottery tea pot in HK...where to buy one?? Just in case Kathie cannot find her source.

I can’t guarantee that the teapots are handmade, but IMO the best place to go would be below, as they have a nice selection of tea pots:
Fook Ming Tea Shop
Shop 3006, ifc Mall, Central
Tel: 2295 036
http://www.fookmingtong.com/
They have other locations in town as well, check the website.
Another place to try would be the gift shop in the Museum of Teaware in Flagstaff House. This is in Hong Kong Park right by the Peak Tram terminus in Central. The museum is in a very lovely colonial-era building is free, is kind of interesting and can be “done’ in an hour, and the gift shops sells very nice teapots, again I can’t swear they are handmade:
Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware
10 Cotton Tree Drive
Central (inside Hong Kong Park)
Tel: 2869 0690
http://www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/Museum/Art...ro/eintro.html
(Closed Tuesdays)
Some funky homeware shops you might try as well are:
G.O.D. (Goods of Desire)
48 Hollywood Road
Central
Tel: 2805-1876
http://www.god.com.hk/
This store is in the Lan Kwai Fong/Hollywood Road area, they have other stores as well, check the website.
Kou
22nd Floor Fung House
19-20 Connaught Road.
Tel: (852) 2530 2234
Closed Sundays.
You may want to look in the Soho area boutiques you might find some interesting house ware stores there, try Elgin Street and Peel Street. You might also try wandering the Cat Street/Ladder Street antique area near the Man Mo Temple in Hollywood Road for antique tea pots. Otherwise, Chinese Arts and Crafts is a good idea, they have lots of tea pots, I just don’t know if any of them are of the quality to be handmade. (For all their store locations, go to http://www.chineseartsandcrafts.com.hk (click on “E” for English).
You might also try Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium, which is a slightly down-market version of Chinese Arts and Crafts. The main branch on Nathan Road is quite near the Jade Market (and the dreaded Temple Street Market). They have a small branch at 55 Des Veoux Road in Central that has more gifty-souvenier type items.
Yue Hwa Chinese Products Emporium
301-309 Nathan Road
Kowloon (at the Jordan MTR, Door A)
