Foot massage in Beijing & Shanghai ?
I have heard there are many places that give great foot massages for very cheap. With all the walking that we are going to have to do, the idea of having foot massages at the end of the day sounds very heavenly.
Has anybody gotten it done while there or knows where to look for these places? And about how much do they cost?
Thanks so much.

Never got one, now I wish I did that I'm back in the US. There should be like a barbershop pole spinning, maybe it will be black and white. A picture of a foot or feet in a window. I've seen prices like 50-60 RMB per hour. I'm sure you can find it cheaper but that's only $7ish when you think about it. Body massages can be around the same.

Jimdrew is right - the cheap places are all over (at least in Shanghai). You're sure to come across them as you are out and about, or you could ask your hotel where to find some near your hotel (if you tell me which hotel, I may be able to list some). These massages will be great, but they are done in plain, no-frills rooms.
A good alternative is the new spas that have opened up in the past few years. Many of these are still priced well below the US (120 RMB/$15), but offer Asian-style relaxing decor, which adds a bit of fun to the experiene (since the decor is very Asian) and adds to your relaxation, since they often have running water trickling in the background, soft music, subdued lighting, etc.
My favorite is Dragonfly, which has 2 locations in the center of town (and walking distance from the Xiangyang market, the one with all the fake goods and a place you will definitely need to recover from!). (The two are the Xinle Lu and Donghu Lu locations - they are literally around the corner from one another).
Since Dragonfly opened, there have been some copycat spas opened, so you may want to get a copy of that's Shanghai, the English language magazine, which will have listings to spas and massage places all over town.

Thanks, Jimdrew and Andrea.
Andrea, I already have Dragonfly and some others (like Frangipani etc. )on my list of places to visit.
We are staying in JW Marriot fot 2 weeks. Its buisness trip for my husband.
Its also sort of an unofficial preview trip for a possible expat assignment in shanghai in near future.
Do you know any cheap foot massage places near JW marriot. I dont care for the frills, especially if its just for the feet.
Also, do you know if it would be easy to find dry-cleaning places around our hotel? Do they provide one day service like in the hotel ? I am a light packer so not carrying a lot with me. So I definately need laundry services.
Also do you think JW Marriot is a good choice in terms of location? I also have two kids (8 and 4) with me. I and the kids are going to be sight seeing on our own except for the weekends when we all plan to got to Suzhou and hangzhou. Would you recommend another over JW Marriot.
Thanks so much.

I think I saw the prices on the website when I went in last time. Dragonfly is more a spa and more shanghai based. I would often just walk by a place and see if they had foot massages and jump in. Also any hoytel will reccommend a place there are so many dont go nuts looking for the "best" as most are excellent. I got foot massages in my Shanghai hotel.
