Flying Hanoi-Luangprabang-Yangon

Hello,
As some of you know from my other posts (Burma or Central Java), we are planning our next trip to SEA. Following your suggestions to stay around, we are considering to add to our 8N Myanmar trip a couple of nights in both Luang Prabang and Hanoi. Therefore we would like to know if its is possible to flight directly from Hanoi to LP and from LP to Yangon.

We are planning to visit Hanoi/LP first and then flight to Myanmar.

Also, please feel free to suggest or comment on our plans.

Thanks again folks your advice.

i don't believe either of those direct flights are available....into LP i think there are only vientienne and bangkok flights but i might be wrong...maybe you could do it using lao airlines through vientienne to both places?? or VN air into vietenne and a lao or a burma carrier into yangon?? just guessing

Bob is right, there are no direct flights between Hanoi and LP or any place in Burma and either of those cities, You could likely fly between LP and Hanoi through Vietienne. To get to Burma, you'll need to fly through Bangkok.

If you do not want to backtrack through bangkok, you can connect from Vientiane to Chiang Mai, and then on to Burma with Air Mandalay. http://www.air-mandalay.com/f_map.html.

But that flight is not every day, so you'll have to plan your itinerary carefully!

Hi, thank al of you for your reponses. We have revised flights schedules with Bangkok Air, etc. connecting through BKK, since we dont want to go Vientiane nor Chiang Mai, and its too much time waiting at airports. So we may limit our choice to one city Luang Prabang or Hanoi, trying to stay 3to4 nights.

Hence, considering that we will be 8nights in Myanmar after that, which of these cities would you recommned? Are these cities really different from Yangon, etc.? Pls. your comments will be appreciated.

Bob: What do you think of adding one additional night to Yangon (we have two nights already)? Where did you go/do on the several days you stayed there? You mentioned that you went to an art gallery, could expando on this pls.?

Kathie: Pls. give your advice on each of cities. Do you think is worth trying to do both or any, since we are also doing Myanmar? We are worried that cities will be alike and not impacting/interresting, since we already visited North Thailand and Cambodia bef. Pls. help us, thnks.
