Fast boat to Koh Tao

Hello,

We're flying to Samui and then heading straight to Koh Tao. Anyone have any recommendations for speedboat service (we're not planning on taking a slow boat).
Thanks!!!

I think the fastest is the Lomphrayah catamaran. It only goes twice a day so you will need to check that your flight arrives in plenty of time as I think the last trip leaves around 12pm. Do a search for Lomphrayah on google and you should find the website. Journey is about same length of time as the speedboats. Think it goes now from Maenam beach, nr the temple. So not that far from the airport.

Alternatively, I know you can hire a speedboat from either Big Buddha or Bophut pier to Ko Pha Ngan. They would probably take you to Ko Tao as well for a price but no idea as to what this would be. Personally, I'd go for the catamaran. The waters can be pretty choppy on a speedboat and it is about a 1.5 to 2 hour journey, you need a strong stomach if it is choppy and you need to sit at the back of the boat (where you get soaked) for the best possible chance of avoiding being sick.

If you are heading 'straight' to Koh Tao and it's your desination you can also go via Chumphon , though that is using the train or the Lomprayah direct service from Bangkok or Hua hin ( Express Bus + Jet Cat ), flying via Samui can be quicker but there are the other ways via Chumphon

You might call your hotel and ask them to recommend a speedboat company. Or, do a 'net search. Prices among services, in Koh Lanta and Ao Nang, at least were quite similar. Don't recall exact prices, but a ballpark estimate would be 125-150USD per hour for a private rental.
