Fabulous Singapore Air Sale

Frustrated by all those sales that require you to fly out of NY or LAX? Well my friends relief is here!
Singapore Air announces a great sale to a number of great Asian destinations. Of course you must fly out of my great city- Houston (bout time!)
Fly Houston to:
Moscow- $599
Singapore- $899
Ho Chi Minh City, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila for $999
Based on two people traveling and all taxes and fees are included. You must book by 3/25 for departures between 3/20 and 5/22.
Maximum stay - 30 days.
At these prices you people not lucky enought to live in the bayou city might want to fly down to get in on this deal!

Well, while from IAH-SIN, the timing is about the same as other routings (~23hours), SIN-IAH on SQ takes about 4 hours more than the fastest ways.

If one's going to somewhere other than SIN or is originating from somewhere other than IAH, you may be talking about many hours longer than the fastest routes.

And SQ in coach is not that much better than other airlines.

BillT pity you have to wait until 2009 !

In my humble opinion SQ Coach/Economy is excellent, always good service, good food and friendly efficient crew. Close or on par with Malaysia but I would rate SQ above most other airlines ( I am actually not able to think of one that is better ) but I am not able to compare with any US or European airlines as far too many years since I flew on asny of those ), excellent in-flight entertainment too.

JamesA - My point is that it's still just a coach seat with 32" pitch. SIN-DME-IAH is 24+ hours consisting of 2 very long flights. I'd rather connect via NRT to get home with 4 fewer hours in some one else's coach seat.

We are both going in March 2009. Yes its still a coach seat but its Singapore Air and no body and I mean no body beats them on their service- there is a reason they are always on top in the airline surveys and that US airlines are always near the bottom!
When we book we look for 1)Price, 2) flying an airline that we participate in their ff program to get the miles, 3)Seating arangement- the best being those that have the 2 x 4 x 2 configuration, 4) Schedule.

Bill,

You must be married because you didn't mention the beautiful flight attendants on SQ - (song)"Singapore girls... you're a great way to fly!"

Yes I am maried and my wife is Asian and yes they are beautiful and most helpful- they always anticipate your needs in advance- compare that to the US flight attendants who are getting very gray shall we say and often hide on long flights and rarely provide the help that you get from Singapore Air flight attendants!

Houston-Moscow-Singapore starts March 20 2008

http://blogs.chron.com/houstondepart...n_to_mosc.html those fare deals until May 22

Emirates also now from Houston, non-stop to Dubai 'still' manages to put those 10 seats across on their 777's, Singapore has the usual 9 across ( 3 x 3 x 3 ) in Coach but has the new just 4 seats across (1 x 2 x 1 )(!!) seating in Business.

The post is long way down now but Emirates start JFK-Dubai with A-380 in October

Thanks for the heads up Bill. I agree that Singapore is one of the best airlines out there. Also agree that Malaysia is a pretty close second.

BillT... Excuse me..."U.S. flight attendants that are getting very gray?" Well, there are a lot of male passengers on those flights who are also getting very gray...or totally gray. Happy Travels!

Qatar Airways also plan flights from IAH to Doha later in the year, add to those from New York and Washington DC.

Is there a reason airlines are making it easy to get out of Houston?

Guen - yes you are quite correct many passengers are getting gray and I am one of them - but then again I'm not serving you am I?
Ask yourself why are the Asian airlines- Singapore in particular- so very popular and rated so high?
They all fly the same planes- its not cost- many times Sing is more expensive than their competition.
Its..... the service!!!!! Really there is no comparison it goes to their culture, service is key. They are anxious to serve, they love to serve, the American flight attendants just don't come close.
Service, culture, etc isn't that a big part of why you go to Thailand so often and not say.... Cleveland!
