Eyeglasses in Bangkok
What is the approximate cost for new eyeglass lenses? I would absolutely need hi-index lenses with an anti-reflective coat.

Anyone have success with this combo from Bangkok lenses? Thanks.

I have just replaced my sunglass lenses here in Chiangmai. For progressive tinted lenses I paid 4,000 Baht, more than twice the price of normal i.e. un-tinted and non-progressive, lenses.

Bangkok might be a little higher. As always it helps to haggle a little, but politely.
we looked at progressive lenses at a shop in siam square or thereabouts in november and i think they were about 30% cheaper than in the usa...not worth the risk...frames however are quite a bit cheaper in most cases

What that means, Tangata, is that progressive lenses must be fitted to your eyes in a very specific way. There are actually 3 different corrections in each lens, so where each changes to the next is important and requires careful measurement. How the glasses sit on your face and the level of your pupil within the frame are important.

By the way, when I have purchased glasses in HK, I have found them to be about 30% cheaper than in the US, so it sounds like Bangkok is similar.
