For those of you who have been or are going to Burma -- I just finished an excellent new book called "Finding George Orwell in Burma" by Emma Larkin. It is not a guidebook but is very insightful regarding the country politically and culturally today and says a lot about the people. I highly recommend it. It's also very readable as opposed to some of the other books I've read on Burma which are more scholarly and dense. I couldn't put it down.

nan_49, another great book is "The Glass Palace." I read that after I came back from Myanmar and really loved it.

another one that is superb is "From the land of Green Ghosts".
