Dress for Malaysia & Singapore?
We tend to dress conservatively in SE Asia (long pants for me, covered shoulders for my wife) but was just wondering if we need to be more "dressy" in Singapore or whether shorts and sleeveless blouses are acceptable on Langkawi. We will also be visiting Penang and Kuching...

Don't worry about it - its so hot you will soon see that most things are acceptable in Singapore, Langkawi and Penang! Short sleevs are fine unless youre going into temples or mosques in which case you may want to carry a shawl for your shoulders if youre a woman. Very short shorts may not be ok for some place, but overall these are on the tourist trail and so usual tourist attire is fine.
If youre going to a hotel or nice restuarant for an evening meal esp in Singapore I would suggest no trainser/sneakers, no jeans/flip flops or vests- maybe a casual shirt for you and a dress for your wife.
Langkawi is a beach resort so most things are fine to wear.Enjoy yourselves! You are going to 3 of my favourite places in the world....~

Craig,
When exactly will you and Jeanne be in Singapore? I just might be there for a few days the middle of the week of July 11th. I plan to try for a last-minute saver ticket to BKK right after the 4th of July, and hope to make it to SIN on this trip! Not sure if Maeng will have the time to join me, as she is in the process of opening up her own new place in BKK.
