distance between Shinagawa and Asakusa
We leave in one week
to start our trip through Vietnam and Thailand. We are ending our three week adventure with 5 days in Tokyo Japan.
I have one night booked at the Ryokan Shigetsu in Asakusa. Then the following day we are meeting up with some friends in Shinagawa and we all have rooms reserved at the Shinagawa Prince for the remainder of our stay.
My question is: How do we get from the Ryokan Shigetsu to the Shinagawa Prince? On the map they look soooo far apart...should we just take a taxi between the two?
I should say we are very light travelers (one carry on sized bag each) and we most always try to take public transport when we travel abroad.
Any help would help. Thanks!

Looking at the Tokyo Metro Map it seems you can take the Ginza line from Asakusa to Ueno and switch to the JR Yamanote line to Shinagawa. I take public transporation as well.
You can get the Tokyo Metro map online - I would post a link but it looks like it is too long to fit.
Enjoy your trip!

Or get to Toei subway Asakusa station (near to but not the same as Tokyo Metro Asakusa) and take a direct train to Shinagawa (Airport or Misakiguchi trains), or change (same platform transfer) at Sengakuji. As you come out of the subway station, there's a taxi rank just outside for a short ride to your hotel.

My recollection is Shinagawa Prince Hotel is very close to the Shinagawa station. Across the big pedestrian crossing in front of the station. No need to take taxi for that odd 50yards from Shinagawa station.
Taxi would take probably around 3000-4000yen depending on traffic.
