Directions to Harmonique

This restaraunt gets mentioned as a fodorite favorite and I will be in Bangkok in October staying at Centrepoint Silom and would like to give it a try. Could anyone please tell me how to get there from my hotel.

it is on a soi just off of the so called 'new road' which is the road that runs parrell to the river...it is the first main road intown from the river...

the rest. is located between the sheraton orchid hotel and the oriental hotel...

the soi, #36 or 34, is just to the left of the huge central post office on new road--you cannot miss this building....you will know the soi because it has a very decorative arch over its entrance---very colorful....

the rest. is about 200 feet down on the right....they will call you a taxi after dinner if you ask....

closed sundays and from before christmas to after new years...

fantastic place

favs: chicken cashew and also fried morning glories

very reasonable...

they have one a/c room, but you have to ask for it....

res. not necessary...

Thanks Bob,
If I am walking from the Oriental towards the ROS, is the soi on the left hand side (towards the river) or right?

From the O to the ROS, stay on the left side of the street, Charon Kreung (New Road). Just look down each soi and you will see Harmonique eventually. If you get to the Post Office, you've gone too far.

Thanks all. That map is great. I'll check out that dining thailand web site for some more ideas.

It's easy to find...Take the river boat down river from the ROS and get off at Tha Oriental...where the Oriental Hotel is. When you get off the boat there is only one way you can go which will be straight. Then you'll pass the Oriental on your left side. walk past the Oriental and you'll come to the first street...walk past that street and go to the second street...and then make a left and it's a few steps on your right side. It's right in front of the Oriental Place Shopping Arcade. Happy Travels!

Shanek-Guenmai described how to get to Tongue Thai. Another very good restaurant near the Oriental. Definitely worth trying out.

I will definately go to both. I was planning on Tongue Thai already as I believe it is another of Bob's favorite haunts. Do you consider them both to be "kid friedly" as I have 2 energetic boys and prefer casual family places that dont have snooty waiters. The food is not an issue as I have Sri-lankan heritage and the boys have no problem with moderately spicy food.

All three places are quite casual, none have any waitstaff that are snooty. I found the food at Tongue Thai to be a bit bland, I'd ask for more spice next time.

8 more days Guenmai. I have only 8 days to go as well. I am actually going twice in 3 months. The first one is a bit of a business junket to Phuket, staying in Le Meridien. This one is without the kids (first time without them since our honeymoon 11 years ago). Then in late Oct we have an 18 night Bangkok/Phi Phi/Ao nang trip with all 4 of us, staying at centrepoint silom, Bayview and Somkiet Buri. It's been almost 24 months since the last trip, cant wait.
