my cousine just returned from thailand, and told me about this unfortunate incident

No update yet apart from the police suspicion that it's some sort of a Russian mafia/gang type of killing. Apparently all the valuables were still on the bodies so nobody know the motif.

fyi--there is reputed be be a large russian mafia presence in pattaya area...this may have something to do with this??

I did read about it several days ago but hesitated to post it for fear of scaring people who may be planning a trip there. I am glad you posted it because I was still considering doing so.

I think it is an isolated incident not aimed at tourists. For those of you planning on going to Thailand, don't let this stop you! It is a wonderful place and generally very safe. consider how many people have been murdered in your country/state compared to all of Thailand in the past year.

bob, you may be right, but if true, i got it from orgy. but i can say this, because i know he is too busy studying to visit fodors. lol.

Frankly, I look at this as yet another reason not to get up to see the sunrise.

Besides, how stupid were these people? The sun rises BEHIND the beach at Jomtien!

That may be, although I'm usually up and about quite early, even when I don't have to. I just don't 'get' seeing the sunrise over things, particularly a place like Jomtien, where the sunset IS rather nice.
