Delhi Hotel Booking
I am looking for a hotel in Delhi for about 150$USD. As many have mentioned on this forum, the cost of hotels in Delhi have become very expensive and I am having trouble finding anything around this price that has decent reviews.
Since I am now running out of time(I am in Delhi mid-March), I am thinking it may be time to try to get some local help. Does anyone know of any local travel agents that could help me with a booking.
I have tried Compass travel which is often mentioned on this forum but they stated that they mostly do Tour Groups.
Our purpose to go to Delhi is for sight-seeing and we have booked the Taj Ambassador as a safety net(in case someone has something to comment about it).
Thanks for any help

The Lemon Tree just north of the city is nice. I forget the managers name, but we were set up there by the concierge at The Imperial when they were out of rooms. The hotel is small quiet and clean. We stayed at 5 Stars all the way through India and had one of our more memorable nights there. Mainly because of the pleasant management. It felt like we were being welcome at a home. The price if I recall correctly is around the 150 US mark.

Is the 'Taj Ambassador' the same 'Ambassador' by Khan market? If so, we ate dinner there one evening in their casual restaurant. The hotel seemed decent, but very dated. It struck me as a hotel popular with Indian businessmen.
The location is okay.. you can walk to the Khan market, but there is little else nearby except blocks of homes. It is easy to find though, and taxis or drivers are very cheap in Delhi. A taxi to Connaught Place would be about 100 rupees during the day or a cycle rickshaw about 40 or 50. You are in the middle of the sights of south Delhi and old Delhi.

A local Indian travel agent can help you. I would recommend Arvind who arranged all of my travel plans there this past December [email protected]

You can contact these guys for your Delhi hotel requirement as well as a car and driver in Delhi as well as a car Agra onwards.

I would also say do a day's sightseeing in Delhi with a guide. I enjoyed having a car/driver dedicated to us - it is flexible in terms of timing and great for shopping as u can keep dumping purchases in the boot! The Ambassador is a decent hotel though, asLcuy said, quite old. There are loads of hotels around the Connaught Place area which you should get in your $150 budget - I am mentioning that area because it works well for the train transfer to Agra which I saw in your other post.
