Da Nang, Hue, Hoi An, My Son

I shall be in Vietnam for a very short time. 3 days. I shall be arriving at Da Nang and really wish to see Hue, Hoi An and My Son during my stay. I am not too fond of package tours so would appreciate any information regarding inexpensive modes of transport between these cities/sites.
Thanks

Hue and Hoi An are in opposite directions from Da Nang. We rented a car and driver to go from Hue to Hoi An. Cost about $65; about a 3-3.5 hour drive.

Thanks Jodo. Since my flight will be landing in Da Nang it would be very useful if you could give me some tips as to a reliable place cafe/agency/whatever where I can hire the car/driver.. Once we rent the cars can we ask them to stop on the way and show us around and all that?

As I know, You can come and ask An Phu tourist company agency at 9 Dong Da str.,they have car with inexpensive price. From Danang, drive to Hoian is my first recommendation. Spend 1 night in the ancient cozy atmosphere of the town. The next day, drive to My Son, It takes 1 full day to see this mysterious hidden holy land. Back Hoian for O/N. The next day drive back Da Nang, reach My Khe beach for some swimming before your fly home.
It's too far to drive to Hue, you dont have time with your 3 days.
With the price of renting the car you dont have to pay for petrol, for eating or sleeping of driver. And of course, you can have some stopovers to see the scenery.
Enjoin your time.

You can rent a car if you want but I would hire a driver. Alot of pigs, cows, people, children, cars, bikes, carts in the road and i rather be looking out the window instead of worrying about hitting grandma walking in the road. Plus, being that you only have 3 days, you don't want to be lost most of the time. Hire a driver....it is cheap and they will get you anywhere you want. To do all 3 of these in 3 days may be a little too much. The drive from Hoi An to Hue is 2 1/2 hours --3 hours and that is with a driver that knows the way

Great Deal and Subway Scoundrel.. Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. I wasn't planning to drive myself So its good to know that I'm doing the right thing.
Yup .. it does seem that 3 days is kind of short to cover all three.. But I really don't know when I'll go back there so was just checking out the possibilities ..

You don't need a whole day for My Son, a morning should be plenty. You can just walk out of Danang station and pick a taxi to go to Hoi An, your hotel there will arrange a car and driver for My Son and to get you back to Danang station. Pick a hotel in town and it's very walkable. If you want really inexpensive check out the open tour buses run by Sinh Cafe.
