Writing from the Taj Hari Mahal in Jodhpur. Arrived in Delhi on Jan. 22 spent two nights at the Imperial, spent a day in Agra, two days in Jaipur and next two days here. Will summarize for now and then get into details upon return if anyone is interested.
The Imperial beat our expectations. What we thought would be a dinosaur from the days of British rule, turned out to be a pristine marble palace with excellent service and amenities. Travel department booked all our flights for the following two weeks while the concierge graciously handled everything else for our day trips in Delhi. Delhi’s another story.
Drove to Agra and returned the same night. Mistake…but not tragic. Just too much time in the car. Taj Mahal is a sight and worth seeing.
In Jaipur stayed at the Jai Mahal. Exellent service…made some friends and had an amazing dinner at Cinnamon. Not as polished as the Rambagh (SP) but more friendly. Went to the Rambagh for a drink and were turned off by the “put out” service. The fort and town are quiet and clean compared to Delhi. The artisans market at the National museum is a must.
Taj Hari Mahal so far is exceptional. Our ‘suite’ was unexpected and is adorned with local art work, modern recessed lighting and all the service and amenities we could hope for.
Will write more when I have more time.

We're flying 5 legs in our trip and the total cost is about $2000 total for the two of us.
Just got back from a 10 hour tour of Jodhpur. By far the most favorite day and location of our time in India. Our guide, whose card I have....Pratap Singh Sisodiya was good natured, intelligent, and pretty much jst a regular guy. No 'tourist-guide' wall between us which was nice. We plan on staying in touch.
The fort here is exhilerating. Like nothing we've seen here as far as forts go.
Oh yeah...to answer the Agra question (it took us a grueling 6.5 hours.)
Of Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Joghpur, Jodhpur is by far our favorite. If yo come, see the Umaid Bhawan Palace...it is a spectacle of opulance. The Pillars restaurant is excellent. Trophy Bar...take it or leave it. The tribal villages near by are fun to visit. I got to play cricket with some of the local kids. Their enthusiasm with us was so energetic that at first we were taken aback. But when we realized how sincere their joy was after a couple if minutes we could only feel grateful.
As for Delhi...there was no incident...it's just a crazy city that had moments of being a bit much. We live in New York City and felt we could handle any degree of city life. And while we were able to handle Delhi, we don't think we could ever spend more than a few days there.
We're off the Mumbai tomorrow...staying at the Taj Mahal Palace.
Then off to Goa to the Taj Exotica for the final four days.
