comfortable shoes

Are there any suggestions as to what kind of shoes to buy for doing lots of walking on a SE Asia tour? Will be visiting temples etc.
I love sandals but am willing to wear other kinds of shoes if need be.

There's been a lot of talk on the Europe board of late about shoes - you might want to have a look there.

I swear by Salomon x.a. pro. They are light, well vented and they have quick release ties which is great for going in and out of temples.

As for sandals ... I swear by a brand called "Rainbow". I get them with the added support arch. I wore them all over Thailand. They worked great for dinner out or wading through water at the beach.

I have a pair of z-coil shoes and my sas shoes for fancier places. The z-coils are the most comfortable though. Probably the most comfortable shoe you'll ever wear when walking alot. Aloha!

Just bought Keds microstretch shoes yesterday at a department store. So far they're incredibly comfortable. I'll tell you how they work out for me on my trip!

The Saloman "amphibian" which are mesh uppers are great. I wouldn't usually wear athletic shoes as a tourist anywhere, but I wore my Saloman's in Nicaragua (hot, wet, not well paved many places) in April and I couldn't have been happier. They are lightweight, cushy and grippy and not stiff like some hiking shoes. The insole pops out for quicker drying if wet. And in SE Asia where some sights require modest dress and closed shoes, these will be great. Enjoy planning your trip!
