China and Japan
I have searched many tour companies and so far can only come up with one that offers a tour for 18 days including Tokyo and Kyoto and then on to Beijing, Xian, Guilin, and Hong Kong. Since this will possibly be my only trip to this area I really want to include both countries. The tour is with Pacific Delight and before I book would like to hear from anyone regarding any info on this tour company.

Pacific Delight is an excellent company. However, I want to urge you to reconsider this trip as you will be spending most of your time going to and from airports and being in a plane. You'll actually see much more if you confine your trip to one country.

i just finished looking at their new booklet before i came up to the computer...
i used them to go to beijing only a couple of years ago...the tour was well run and the hotel we stayed in was good, not fabulous, but good...
the non stop flight from newark on continental was excellent...
i would use them again and their prices are excellent...
they often offer "sales" as well....look at their web site under specials or some such title...
may i add that this is a terrific amount to do in 18 days!!!
don't expect to get an in depth feel for any place, but rather a look see and whiz bang....
many people on our tour took all the extras offered...sometimes there were scheduling conflicts and overlaps which caused problems....we took no extras and rather hired a car from the hotel to do things on our own or took a taxi...nicer to go at your own pace...
do your reading in advance...!!!

On my first trip to Asia I spent 11 days in Japan and 3 days in Beijing. It was fascinating to compare the differences and similarities between the two countries. I would have liked to spend a couple more days in Beijing. It was a free stop on an FF award so I reluctantly took those three days away from Japan. I'm glad I did it.
Your tour is 6 stops in 18 days. Might be better with 4 stops. How many days would you be in Japan? You'd need at least 5 days.

I am looking at the 19 day Classic China & Yangtze River and concerned about your mention of spending a lot of time in airports. Also, you mentioned a lot of optionals. Where can I get information on these optionals and what they will cost? Thanks...anyone with info on this Imperial PD tour please give me info!

The options info is listed in the tour book or you can call them for additional info. I know this tour is jamming alot in the 18 days but as I said it seems to be the only one with both countries. Starting in Kyoto for 3 nights with 1 day touring and one free day or optional day trip to Nara. Then JR express train to Tokyo for 3 nights including 1 day touring and one free or option day to Mt. Fugi/Hakone. Then fly to Beijing for 3 nights. Touring includes the usual sights for first 2 1/2 days then fly to Xian for 2 nights and 1 full day of tour there. Next is flight to Guilin for 2 nights including sights and Li River cruise ( a must do for me) Next is flight to Guangzhou with city tour before train ride to Hong Kong. Stay HK for 3 nights and 2 days including 1 full day tour and 1 free or optional tour. I really want to visit Japan on this trip because if I should return to Asia I would like to visit further south and west to possibly include more of the area around Guilin and on to Bangkok and Siem Reap. How does this all sound????
