Design The Dream Trip: 3 Weeks In China and Japan!

Ok, I am way behind on the planning of this trip.

I "plan" to travel July 2006, solo, female, moderate to very good budget. I want to hit the top cultural sights, enjoy unique experiences, eat at good restaurants, etc. I am not afraid of the dark (please include after sunset activities). I do not need lots of rest but have no desire to buzz quickly through.

I do dress up when I travel(nothing to get me robbed) and I do not pack light. I like a variety of outfits.

I want this trip to be as good as it gets as you see it!

Oh, I am happily married and have traveled solo lots from my created itineries.

This is suppose to be positive (Please try not to chastise me)...so, tell me what your trip would look like and add any details you wish.

My thanks for those who have fun with this!

Any ideas? Any threads you want me to pull up?

Thanks for whatever you suggest to jump start me...

I would want to do a Silk Road tour. See some of the lesser visited/more remote ruins and archeological sites in China. But, that's me.

My trip would look like 17 days in Japan and 4 days in China. How would you do it OT?

You could start by looking at the many posts on Japan here. There are loads of itineraries posted. Lots of trip reports. Not so much for China, but still some that could get you started.

When you say you "plan" does that mean you'll really go?

I find it hard to think about combining the two countries. Personally, I'd choose one or the other for the three weeks.

You might want to research the climate of China and Japan. July will be closer to a nightmare than a dream.

THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!

Yes, I do plan to go. I am an avid traveler, been on the boards since right before the Y2K scare...

Work and travel have kept me away for a while.

These suggestions help. I just need to find a half day to read the China and Japan specific threads.

I will try and get a rough draft together for ya'll review and critique after then.

On climate, I know it will be hot...is it hotter than say Atlanta of Chicago during the peak of Summer(over 100 degrees at times)?

Japan is hot. In July, if the rainy season has passed, it will be hotter and more humid than Atlanta by far. If it's still rainy season, the temperature won't be so bad.

My two cents? I'd love to do three weeks in Japan.

We just did two weeks and there is so much we didn't get a chance to see.
