Chiang Mai - Yi Peng & Loy Krathong question
We are planning to be in Chiang Mai in November this year for the Yi Peng and Loy Krathong festivals. Looking online, it appears that Yi Peng will be celebrated on11th-13th November, with the large Yi Peng celebrations scheduled for the 11th and 12th. I read that Loi Krathong is 13th November.
My question is whether Loi Krathong is celebrated 13th November in Chiang Mai? Or do people float the Loi Krathong boats on the 11th and 12th along with the Yi Peng balloon releases?
I am trying to figure out whether to depart Chiang Mai 13th November evening, or stay over to the 14th. Any information on how the festivals work when Loi Krathong falls on the 3rd day would be appreciated.
