How are you getting from NY to Beijing? One-way ticket? Through whom?

I don't really know how to get a cheap one-way HK-to-NY ticket. Perhaps just ask a local travel agent while you're there.

My daughter is already in Beijing for the semester so we purchased a one way through flychina.com I think now that I'd paid too much. 715.00 plus tax. Now we would like to buy a ticket back to NY for my daughter also.guess I'll ask the travel agent thanks

Hm... You probably should have bought an open-jaw roundtrip.

But anyways, try searching on zuji.com or www.tiglion.com besides a local agent. The cheapest I found for May is on China Airlines via Taipei plus a fuel stop in Anchorage. About HK$5,000 including tax. Which is about $650.

thanks I just booked the return flight from hkg to nyc on zuji.com for $672 nonstop. You really are a great resource thanks. One more question, we are planing on taking the sleeper train from Beijing to xian. We are not sure if we should take another sleeper train that evening to Guilin or get a hotel and fly out the next morning. Do you know if there are any showers on the trains? We plan on having a guide in Xian but where will we keep our luggage? thanks for your additional help. ML

Xian to Guilin is almost 2,000km. The direct train takes about 28 hours, leaving around 8pm and arrives midnight the next night. It's a route to fly.
