As other travel forums have a discussion on the tragedy in Asia, I thought I would appeal to the Fodor's community for any help they may be able to offer as well.

JAMES HSU, my classmate, has been missing since Saturday when the tsunami hit. He is an American citizen of Taiwanese descent and is 5'9". He was last seen on Phi Phi Island wearing navy blue board shorts and a white or grey t-shirt. He's 25 and of slim and athletic build. If you have ANY information or contacts in Thailand, please email Peggy Hsu at [email protected]. Thanks in advance for your help.

I hope you will have good news about him soon. Let me also recommend the thorntree, Lonely Planet's message board, which has a whole missing person's section in the wake of this tragedy. There are many posters local to Thailand who may be able to help.

They need full name, d.o.b and passport number.

Tip: Someone mentioned elsewhere that if a close relation can contact Card issuer you can probably find if the credit/bank card has been used and if so where, that can be a guide.

Much of the most recent updated information on some sites is in Thai, see if you can get hold of a Thai speaking person and enlist their help. Because of his origin he might not be listed as American.
