15 days to go before my family trip to Tokyo!

I wanted to take some gifts like cookies, chips (tapioca, jackfruit, banana)or coffee bean that are famous and locally made here in Malaysia & maybe homemade cookies. But I am not sure whether this allowed in Japan? Can someone please advise me what type of food items is allowed to enter Japan?

I think you will have to at least declare and show the Customs people the fruit. Take a look at http://www.customs.go.jp/asem/partne..._passenger.htm where it says that "Plants and animals must be presented to the plant or animal quarantine officer for quarantine inspection prior to Customs examination"

They may take the fruit from you, but it is worth a try. The coffee and tapioca should be fine, they are dried, the cookies and chips are no problem.

I would think dried fruit chips would be fine, but definately check the sites listed above. They just changed their restrictions. For example, beef jerky from the US is now illegal to bring into Japan.
