brief trip summary: favs and flops

In hopes of avoiding the panda-penalty, I am assembling a brief trip review before I even leave Bangkok. We are at the Oriental killing time before our China House dinner and then the late flight back to NYC. So, here goes:

Best hotel room: Peninsula Bangkok
Best hotel service: the Oriental
Most relaxing, totally vegatative hotel experience: the Evason Hideaway in Nha Trang Vietnam
Best massage: Face Spa in Bangkok
Best breakfast: Hotel Paix in Siem Reap
Best lunch: thai restaurant at Face and Cha Ca La Vong in Hanoi
Best dinner: birthday dinner on the beach in front of our villa at Evason Hideaway
Least favorite dinner: Khmer food at Hotel Paix
Best cocktails: Bobbby Chin's in Hanoi
Favorite shopping experience: Jim Thompson outlet
Favorite temple: Ta Prohm
Favorite experiences on, over or under water: river trip in Luang Prabang, crossing river on elephants in Luang Prabang and scuba diving in Nha Trang
Favorite trip experience: school visit with Ponheary

I'll write more when I get back...but off now to the Bamboo Bar for some final vacation cocktails.....

cruisin - I look forward to your full trip report, including your experience with Ponheary. What school did you visit?

I am wondering why your meal at the Hotel DLP was a disappointment - also, did you sit on a swing for at least one meal?

Enjoy China House - should be a great final meal to cap off your SE Asia trip.

Penalty waived-plus, it's not a panda penalty, it's a delinquency penalty. I'm merely it's humble enforcer (can an enforcer be humble?). Your preview makes it seem that you had a great time. That is the reason we go.

Thanks for this nice list. It all sounds wonderful! I wonder if the dinner at China House will make the grade for inclusion on the list.

What a tantalizing summary rather than avoiding the penalty you're making us more impatient!

I'm so looking forward to your report as we're off to Bangkok, Angkor and Vietnam in July.

Lokking forward to the full repoert and welcome home!
