Just there this week. I think it was 760 bat plus 10% service and 7% tax. A bat is .023 so about $20. But we had a later breakfast and were so full we did not eat lunch. I did not see any good place to eat breakfast around there. You could eat at OP or River City. Lots of coffee shops there, but they are pricey for coffee and rolls. I happen to love the big buffet breakfasts. Gives me a chance to try all kinds of stuff. Oriental had good Thai noodles and great lox. You sit by the river and it is very pleasant. Of course, a small breakfast and a nice lunch is very good also. $20 will certainly buy a good lunch.

And in terms of incomparable river views while dining, do not forget the Royal Orchid Sheraton-my favorite outdoor venue-not more than a 5 min. tuk-tuk ride from the Oriental-with a beautiful lounge/bar/outdoor dining area right next to the River City antiques mall, and very near the downtown Bangkok area, so lots of interesting river traffic to watch. After breakfast (or any meal) there, you can catch the river bus for around 10 baht (around 20c) and get off at the Imperial Palace stop, to see Wat Po and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. (You can also catch the river bus adjacent to the Oriental as well).
