Seattle sounds good to me if I have to fly somewhere. I've always wanted to go there. If I were to do a GTG in L.A., it wouldn't be in L.A. proper, but in Pasadena...20 minutes, by car, from downtown L.A. It's a beautiful city...home of the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl...and VERY easy to get around in and has lots of wall-to-wall great restaurants...within walking distance of each other... if people wanted to stay a few days and just eat. Plus, there are wonderful museums...including an Asian museum. And if folks stayed at the Courtyard Marriot in Old Town Pasadena, they would be in the heart of Old Town and would be within walking distance of all of the top restaurants and the restaurant where I'd have the GTG. They could walk to some of the museums, too. They'd be right in the heart of things. It's a city that has a lot to offer. So, if anyone is game, let me know and you can start recommending months/dates.If enough are interested, I could start putting something together for 2006. And remember,we have great weather most of the year...except February and sometimes March rain...although it's usually not that bad unless it's storm related. Plus, even if it rains, it's still not cold outside. So, if you want to escape snow, then you can pick a month when the weather is terrible where you live. Come on out to sunny southern Cal! Happy Travels!

Laurie and Bob, I was able to access the photos with the links you emailed me, but not with the links on this message. Anyway, thanks for the photos.

Guenmai, I'm in the final stages of preparing for my Borneo trip, and I can't even think about planning anything else. But when I return, I'd be glad to brainstorm about where and when to do the next get together!

The end of March might work. I'll be off to Paris in mid April...I think the ticket is for mid April...but March is usually a good month here. We'll wait until Kathie gets back from Borneo to discuss this. Kathie...when are you going to Borneo? I can't remember. Happy Travels!

Last three days of March is not good, but the weekend of the 25th would work for me right now.

Guenmai, I'll be in Europe in April as well, but not Paris. For me, it's always Switzerland, Italy, Germany. (business mixed with pleasure)

Carol...we'll have to wait and see if there are other interested folks. It would be great if lots of folks from the Asia forum could come. I would however throw the invite out to the Europe forum, too. I'm flexible, with months, as long as I have a weekend available. Happy Travels!

guen, if i'm going to the gtg, i might as well go onto bkk from there. just checked ua online, and hnl-bkk fare was $1848, and earn less miles, than from lax. such a deal.

OK, Kuranosuke...now I've got what you mean by quoting the BK airfare. It would be great if you and Mrs. Kuranosuke could come over for a GTG on the mainland. Happy Travels!

They are rather large, aren't they. Cruisinred, they are worn over your regular socks and only came in one size. I have a picture of myself wearing them. I'm going to post my photos from the trip this weekend so you can see me in them, looking like a complete dork (as hawaiiantraveler would say). I've aleady uploaded them, I just need to put captions on them.
