Boston GTG-2006
There seems to be a groundswell towards a Boston Get-Together in the first or second week in October. All are invited. Last time we had lunch with about 30 and dinner with about 10. Bob (RhkKmk) is checking on the availability of the room we used last time. If anyone wants to express a preference for either week, now would be a good time to jump in. I know it's more than 6 months in the future, but we're dealing with Bob.

wl5-the way it has worked in the past is that the Asia Fodorites seem to come from the farthest points(Guenmai, I think you were the most distant), so they need the most lead time for scheduling. The Europe and US Fodorites tend to be within driving distance (with the notable exception of an Indiana contingent). This preliminary post was just to alert anyone interested. There's little doubt that Bob will post a thread with the specifics a liitle closer to the GTG date.

It's good that Bob is thinking ahead as there are those of us who live on the opposite side of the country and have to plan this into a budget and time slot. I really wish it would be the last week in September. Hopefully the weather would be better then. Happy Travels!

Wanderlust...Most of us probably don't know the people in the U.S. forum. We are regulars in the Asia forum. Last year's GTG was the Asia forum and the European forum folks. Many of us vacation in Asia and Europe and are on both forums. Last year's GTG was really nice. Just the right number...not too crowded. Plus, the dining room held the number we had perfectly. Happy Travels!

I'm glad you are going to try to attend the BOS GTG once again. I am also. The last weekend in Sept would be OK for me, if that's your best option. I guess I'm flexible, within a 3-week time period (Sept 28-Oct 16).
In any case, I'm hoping we manage to sit at the same table the next time. I do look forward to some conversation with you.

Thanks again for trying to put something together again. Hope to see another nice gathering.

i just got off the phone with the hotel and they have suggested oct 7 as the best date to avoid lots of other cambridge activities in october and late september.....how would that hit people??
sept 30 is also available but yon kipur is on the following monday (10-2) which might cause issues for many people, but the 30th is also an alternative....
as for posings, we will as usual post it on all of the main forums (europe, asia, usa, and some others....we have never had one response or attendant from any of the other forums however)....
HOPE WE HAVE AS GOOD A TURNOUT AS LAST YEAR AND SO DIVERSE GOEGRAPHICALLY!!!

Bob and Andy, thanks for organizing the Boston GTG! Joseph and I look forward to attending and finally having a chance to meet many of you. Boston in October is a beautiful time to visit our city....or for that matter, all of New England.
