Hanuman, thanks for the info. Singapore must have added that within the last year or so. I haven't flown Cathay Pacific for many years, so didn't know about them.

In my expereince, the headphones do plug in to watch the movies or listen to music. The headphones I have (Bose 3) also have an adaptor for other plug-in configurations.

Another vote for them. We actually had a crying baby in front of us in biz class on ANA last week and to my amazement, when I turned them on, I couldn't hear the crying at all! Well worth the money, but if you're a glasses wearer, be sure to take off your glasses for extended wearing as they do tend to press the stems against your head. Never have problems being able to plug them in. Be sure to carry your charger with you - it's tiny and you'll need to recharge after a flight to Asia - Claire

I know this is an old post but as I read it I thought I might add my two cents. I purchased some Audio Technical headphones which are supposedly rated better than the Bose ones. And at $140 a much better deal. I love them. Just thought I would mention that if you are looking for a good deal on over-the-ear headphones. I won't fly without them.

Interesting that this post should pop up as today I was looking for something along these lines. Don't want headphones but rather buds. Would lilke some noise reduction & would like to be able to use a splitter. Don't want to spend a lot of money on them! OK I know I am asking a lot but just wondered if their are any updates since the original post?
Thanks in advance J

I will put in another plug for Sennheiser's. We got them for our trip to Australia a couple of years ago and have never regretted it. They make movies so much more enjoyable because you don't have to strain to hear what they are saying over the hum of the plane. I just got them out again last night to start packing for Argentina. I like that they are compact and have a very sturdy case that doesn't take up a lot of room or weigh alot (we do carry on if at all possible). They also come with all of the adapters that you need. The only thing to be careful to pack is extra batteries so you don't end up having to buy the, in the airport as we did one time. Lots more expensive that way!
