Hanuman: A special commendation has been noted in your file. The Dili posting is now officially off-limits for the next 3 years.

I will be contacting your "agent" using the code name that you have supplied to me. Unlike a certain fuzzy someone, I will not be spilling the beans about this secret information.

A million thanks.

"Spilling the beans"? Are antequated expressions her specialty? Next, it will be "23 skidoo". At least the large furry one lives in the present.

Jeepers, creepers, Panda! I am TRYING to complete an important assignment here.

Agent Hanuman: It has now been more than 12 hours since I sent my missive to (Travel) Agent Ratchanee. So far there has been no response. I hope I did not put the kibbosh on the plan by mentioning your code name! Stand by to render assistance, please.

The agent is in the States at the moment! I'll make sure that she knows.

Agent Hanuman you are tip top! Many thanks! On a related note, is this the agent who might have some good deals on Bangkok hotels?

I could hold out the promise of a posting to Bangkok but you are already there. So start making your shopping list for items I can bring over.

"tip top"? Have we traveled back in time to the 1930's? 1920's? Does she own a raccoon coat? Where has she been living? Who speaks/writes like that? Are six questions enough?

The repeated use of out-of-date jargon is unbelievable. The penalty committee will definitely have to convene on this issue.

How do you know the jargon is out of date, we are New Yorkers and trendsetters. Because Boston has not caught up with the latest in lingustics does not mean it is outdated. Racoon coats are very in as are hoop skirts and bobbysox, somewhere in the world I'm sure.

The syllogism:

New Yorkers are hip,
Ekscrunchy is a New Yorker,
Therefore Ekscrunchy is hip

does not apply. She is a wordsmith. Each phrase is chosen very carefully. Read her reports. The prose flows like a spring brook. Fresh and bubbly. The continued use of pre-WWII jargon cannot be a mistake. It is probably some deep character flaw. I'm merely identifying it, not judging.

Oh, balderdash, Panda. If you keep this up I will choke this place with heel dust.

I read a lot. I have to with no friends to speak of. Bob is not spoken of.

Balderdash? I can only think that EKS has a life-long desire to be Nora Charles. Does she have a dog named Asta?

Doesn't everyone have a lifelong desire to be Nora Charles?

Hanuman is the cat's meow. He will save the day so I can return to tell my tales!

I had to look up Nora Charles just now!! And I am a little afraid of dogs.

But, gee whillikers, Pandas do not scare me.

How can you toss off expressions from the 30's with abandon and not know who Nora Charles was? Like Kathie said, she was the envy of a generation. She and Nick were the epitome of High Society.

Pandas do not instill fear, merely awe.
